Makoto Toriyama serves as the head of Toriyama Farm, which handles wagyu cattle production, and Toriyama Co., Ltd., which handles meat processing and sales. Today he is focusing his efforts particularly on strengthening partnerships with TUW (Toriyama Umami Wagyu) producers to produce ideal wagyu cattle with peers who share his philosophy.

Toriyama procures TUW beef directly from each of the farmers. The reason we do direct negotiations, not auction, is to connect with trustworthy producers who understand Makoto’s standards of value and are not influenced by market prices. The wholesale market also serves as a place where industry peers can engage in dialogue about raising cattle and to spread Toriyama Farm’s techniques and knowledge.

Our ultimate goal is more than simply to expand the market; it is to work hand-in-hand to grow and bring the best wagyu to the world. This ideal is supporting the future of the TUW brand.
